Horrific day for Spain yesterday as the heart of the country and of the people was hit by bombs. Several bombs exploded in Atocha, the biggest train station in Madrid, in the middle of rush hour, killing around 200 and wounding over 1000, according to the BBC news. The streets of my city, Sevilla, about 6 hours south of Madrid, had a hushed, gloomy feel last night as I walked home with friends. As far as I know everyone we know in Madrid is ok. Friends of friends, however, have been affected.
Today there will be protests and demonstrations throughout the country. This is just awful...still hard to believe.

Thankfully Jonah and I were nowhere near Madrid yesterday. Jonah travels from London to Sevilla today by plane. I am really looking forward to his return.

just saw Pablo in the park today. Pablo is a homeless guy that lives in the neighborhood park. I haven't seen him in a while, since right after I got mugged and he wanted to know how I was. He encouraged me not to let the attack get me down which was nice. And he also told me that he is trying to get off the methadone that he has been taking to get off the heroin he was addicted to before that. I thought that was great news. I have been praying for him for over a year now to be able to take steps to get better and get off drugs etc. so I am really pleased to hear about his plans.
